Good Morning Team Hillary,
With the exception of two reporters I have spoken with occasionally throughout the primary cycle, the Orlando Sentinel has mostly ignored our grassroots effort to see every vote from Florida counted and every delegate seated in Denver. This morning I was pleasantly surprised to read that for the first time, today - the day before the DNC rules and bylaws committee announces that Florida will receive representation at the convention in some form - our local newspaper has decided to stand up for what's right and call for our votes to be counted. I'm happy they've joined in the chorus, but am I the only person asking, "where have they been?" Isn't it partly the responsibility of the media (especially at the local level) to serve the needs of the community and draw attention to injustice where it exists? Why didn't the Sentinel run front page stories on this debacle from the beginning? Why didn't they chronicle our every effort to bring justice to the people of Florida? I have my own ideas and I'll let you draw your own conclusions, but I think we can agree that the complacency of our local media is yet another indicator that we as Floridians are truly under-served - when we are served at all. No matter where I find myself at the end of this primary cycle or after the general election in November, I won't give up fighting for what's right. I know you won't either. That's what makes Team Hillary so special. Link to the story: Sentinel Article Best, Jessy Hamilton Hillary Clinton for President |
