Good Evening,

The staff at Greater Orlando's Team Hillary and Orlando4Obama are working overtime to organize an awesome unity party for next Tuesday. Please take the time to RSVP if you haven't already as we would like to have an accurate count before issuing announcements and press releases. I hope that everyone will decide to come out and enjoy the festivities - especially those who still feel down. It may help to come out and reconnect with everyone and feel the energy that is still alive in this group. I know that for many of us the instinct is to withdrawal when these things happen, but I hope we'll all fight that temptation and make lemonade with these lemons. If any of you need someone to talk to, I am only a phone call away. E-mail me and I will send you my phone number.

Best,
Jessy Hamilton

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Will we still be together as a group/organization or are we merging with local grassroots campaigns for Barack Obama?
A: We are not merging with anyone. We will maintain our independent grassroots status. We are registered with the federal government as a 501(c)(3) group and we intend to push forward with the same leadership and membership we've always had. We aren't going anywhere! With that said, we will be collaborating with a variety of groups and we count organizations like Orlando4Obama among our friends. We are all truly working toward the same goal now.

Q: What is happening in the meetings between our staff and Obama staff?
A: To date we have met with Obama staff twice - once to celebrate Hillary's legacy and again a few nights ago to discuss the concerns of Team Hillary. Tomorrow, I will meet with officials from the local Democratic Party and Obama staff members from DC to discuss issues that are important to our members and how we can work together moving forward.

Q: What will happen to the money we have raised over the last sixteen months?
A: The steering committee met last night and voted unanimously to liquidate our assets and donate the proceeds to the Hillary Clinton campaign to help Senator Clinton pay down her campaign debt.

Q: Will we continue to raise funds in the future?
A: Yes! Our treasurer rightly pointed out that it would not be fair to use money raised for Hillary Clinton for any other purpose, so we are donating those funds to her campaign... BUT... we will start over financially and rebuild our treasury. We stunned ourselves with our fundraising abilities once and we'll do it again!

Q: Will our group name change?
A: Yes... and no. Our federal registration, accounts, and records will still say "Greater Orlando's Team Hillary", but we will conduct business under the name "Greater Orlando's Team Obama" beginning Wednesday of next week. In November our name will revert to "Greater Orlando's Team Hillary" unless a majority of members oppose the change by official vote. In the event that Senator Obama fails to capture the White House (unlikely) we will entertain the possibility of becoming a "Draft Hillary in 2012" group.

Q: Does Barack Obama really have a chance to win?
A: Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. and... YES!

Q: Why should I support Barack Obama?
A: Each of us came to this campaign because we believe in Hillary Clinton. There are a million reasons I could offer you to support Senator Obama, but the most important is that she has asked us to. She was right when she said that if we ask "what might have been?", and live our lives in the past, we will never move forward. In an ironic way, we have to support Senator Obama if we want to honor her work and the progress she made for women and workers.

Q: I'm not ready to support Barack Obama. What should I do?
A: Take your time. There is no rush. We all have to do what is right for us individually. Some of you will vote for Senator McCain, and I regret that, but I thank you for your hard work and devotion to Hillary. Whatever you decide to do, you have friends in this group. We won't demonize you for taking a different road. We will miss you though.
